Nancy moved to Tucson 8 years ago to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. She is a native Houstonian and attended nursing school at Hermann School of Professional Nursing in 1973. She went on to obtain her BSN in nursing at Lamar University in 1987 and her MSN in critical care nursing in 1989. After many years of nursing experiences she went to post-masters Family Nurse Practitioner program at UTMB Medical Branch in Galveston in 1995.
Most of her NP experience has been in ED and Urgent Care departments where she dealt with acute and chronic pain issues. She began to take care of chronic pain patients at her family practice, and continued to care for these patients over the last 5 years because there has been a lack of providers willing to deal with patients and their chronic pain. She believes patients have to be listened to, they know their bodies and their pain levels, and have to be involved in the management of their pain. There are many ways to take care of chronic pain including physical therapy, massage, staying active, natural products such as homeopathic and CBD products, as well as medical marijuana. Narcotics are usually part of the equation of getting pain under control so the patient can function and be able to function in every day activities. She will use any and all methods to take care of her chronic pain patients.
