What is a Facet Joint Injection?

During this procedure, a small amount of numbing and anti-inflammatory medication is placed into the joints in the back or neck.  The concept is similar to receiving a “cortisone” injection in the knee or shoulder.  But given the smaller size of the joint, X-ray guidance is required to ensure proper placement.
